That’s right, mofos, it’s Spring Break! We’re loading down the Winnebago with all the Beast it can hold, hitting replay on “Darlington County,” and heading to South Padre Island for a month of the Three B’s: brewskies, babes, and…uh…um…more brewskies!
Someone call Pauly Shore and find that chick in the red-white-and-blue uni-thong, because we’re partying old school MTV style! Like before they rated TV shows!
It’s going to be a Literary Foam Party deep in the Heart of Texas!
…
Okay, you got us…we’re not going on Spring Break.
Really, we’re so not.
First off, not all of us are even allowed to cross state lines. And then this whole notion of being encased in foam on a dance floor? Sounds like a surefire recipe for multiple panic attacks. Also, someone could slip and get hurt.
So, no, we’re not really going to South Padre Island.
But we are taking a short break on regular submissions while we sort out the novella contest, deal with everyday life, and probably mangle our taxes. Nothing too drastic: we’ll shut down at midnight on March 9th (so you’ve got a few more days to send us something cool) and then reopen for regular submissions late in April, probably around the 18th. (There’s even rumors that we might be taking submissions for a special Halloween issue then.) We’ll try to respond to any outstanding submissions to the monthly mag in the next week or so, if you’re currently waiting on an answer from us.
And our novella contest will absolutely positively remain open through the end of March.
